Once again, I've failed in my duties as family blogger... Hence, we've got more updates than I can possibly share in one post (without putting readers to sleep.) So i'll try to capture some highlights of the last couple of months.
Ella is 2!!!!
She had a lovely princess birthday and had a wonderful time celebrating with friends and family! Thank you everyone who came!
Here are her stats as of her 2-year checkup:
Height: 33.25" (30%)
Weight: 29.2 lbs (77%)
Head: 19.5" (94%)
In summary, Ella is a little short, a little chubby and a bit top-heavy (i.e. she has a very healthy brain). :)
Since she turned 2, she has grown up all of the sudden! I dont know how birthdays do it, but they cause this quantum leap every time in our kids. She's started talking almost completely coherently and fluently... at least *we* can understand most of what she says. :) It still requires a little bit of translation with people who dont spend as much time with her, but she's getting there! She's also started sprouting up and thinning out! She's turning from our baby girl into our big girl. She's such a girl too. It's so funny to see her play with her babies. She's so gentle with them and acts like a little mommy. She also loves her clothes, jackets and shoes... Most of all, she adores her brother and follows him around every chance she gets. Yesterday he was being really silly and running through the house saying goofy things and she was right behind him repeating his every move and sound. :) He also has a special talent for making her laugh. That's one of my favorite scenes in life. :)
She has also decided that she's ready to potty train. She hasn't actually gone in the potty yet, but wants to sit on it frequently. I figure eventually it'll happen accidentally, and then it'll be smooth sailing from there! (a mom can hope!) :)
Owen is now a complete big boy... with a big attitude to go along. :) He's become very independent and pretty much thinks he runs the show. He's the sweetest little guy but boy does he know how to throw a fit. It's actually comical at times because he gets so worked up over the silliest things. We're hoping this is a short-lived phase. He's also remarkably intelligent! His current kick is robots. Everything is about robots. We bought the movie Short Circuit and he loves it. He can tell you all about it - just ask him about "that robot movie". :) This week we got down our old 90s version of the Lego Mindstorms Robotics kit and Owen had a blast building a little robot and making it "go all by itself!" He's convinced and keeps telling everyone that "Daddy is getting me new robot Legos for Christmas!" This is the first time he's ever had a wish for a gift and it's so much fun to see him excited about it... we're not sure how we're gonna work it out yet... but hopefully he'll get something along the lines of robot Legos from us or someone. :) I think his daddy is having a little bit of fun with this too. :) It's fun to see them working and playing together. Nothing beats hearing Owen run up to me and say "Look what Daddy made it do!! We're gonna make other robots too! and we can make it do different things!" Ahhh... the father/son bonding. So sweet!!
He has also been saying some of the funniest things lately. If we recorded them, I'm pretty sure we could make some TV shows. :) Just a couple of examples:
One day, we were talking about Baby Drew (my nephew who is arriving this week!!! hurry up Aunt Chrissy!!) and Owen told me that he wants a baby brother and a baby sister. He said he wants a baby brother first and his name will be Hairja and he will grow in daddy's tummy because boys grow in daddy tummies and girls grow in mommy tummies. I tried to explain that's not how it works, but he didnt quite understand. :) Then he said after we have a baby brother, he wants a baby sister named Shua who will grow in mommy's tummy. It'll still be a while before we'll fulfill his request for more siblings, but we're still wanting more eventually. :)
Another story..
The other day, the UPS man dropped off a package for Daddy. He rang the doorbell and left the package on the doorstep like they often do. When I opened the door and picked up the box, Owen has this very puzzled look on his face and asked "How did that box ring the doorbell?" I about fell over laughing and explained to him what happened, but it was so funny! A legitimate question, but hilarious. :)
Our latest family addition is Haledunia. He's a bundle of energy and fun.... and messes, but mostly fun. :) He's now almost 5 months old and weighs around 6 lbs as of his last visit a few weeks ago. He's *mostly* gotten past the potty training phase, but we still have accidents occassionally. They are certainly less frequent at least. The big thing now is keeping him from tearing to shreds everything he finds on the floor... everything from tissues and toys to clothes. He has a special knack for shredding a tissue into a million little pieces all over the living room... and he seems to enjoy dumping his food all over the kitchen floor. I guess the dirty floor makes it taste better! At the same time, he's so sweet and cuddly and fun to play with. He got his first haircut weekend before last. They cut it to about 1 inch all over and just trimmed up his face. He's so cute! We're not big fans of the classic poodle cuts, so I think we'll stick with this sort of haircut as long as it works for us and him. :)
That leaves the fish, daddy and me! We're also doing well. There have been a lot of changes at work over the last several months, but I believe they are, overall, positive for my group and for me. There are certainly a few bummers given the economy, but nothing I can complain too loudly about. We underwent a big reorganization which I think has been pretty positive for most of us. Since my last boss left this summer, I've gotten a new boss and with the re-org, he has also gotten a new boss, who has also gotten a new boss. :) So in summary, I'm in a totally new organization with new management and it's much like a breath of fresh air. Our new management chain is very supportive and optimistic and they create a much more positive atmosphere. It's great to have support for some of the ideas and initiatives I've been trying to push through over the last year! It's also had a good impact on the other members of our team who, I think, are set up much better for success now with strong leaders in the management positions. It's going to be a very challenging year for us all, but a much more up-beat one I hope! :)

My babies are growing up!
Owen reminds me every day how big he's getting! His big thing lately is "I've got a good idea." His ideas are usually pretty clever, I must say. :) Last night when I put him in his room for bed, I told him he needed to stay in his room or I would have to close his gate. He responded with "I have another good idea. If I need something, I can come tell you so you will know what I need. That's a good idea isn't it?" Little stinker! :)
And then there's sweet little Ella who is really starting to talk all of the sudden. The other night when I was combing her hair after a bath, she started saying "owee. It hut mommy, it hut. owee, it hut." :) It was so cute in her cute little voice. Don't worry, it didnt really hurt, she just doesnt like to have her hair combed. :)
There's plenty more, but I gotta work... will write more later. :)

Haledunia's 3-month checkup
He's a big boy for a Toy poodle.. his official weight is about 5 lbs. The vet is surprised that he's really a toy and not a miniature, but I confirmed that with his mommy and daddy! He's just a big toy. :) He got his rabies shot and a couple of others today too, but he was a good boy. :) I'll post some new pictures of him soon. He's an onery little stinker, but lots of fun!

We're all good today!
Haledunia seems to be back to normal today. We're thinking the canned food we fed him yesterday was bad or something. He's certainly back to his playful self and hasn't pooed all over the place today. :)
I took Ella to the doctor this morning and they said she probably just fell or hurt herself causing her to limp. She was still limping a little bit this morning, but by the time I picked her up from school she was pretty much back to normal. Yay!

Oh thank heavens for the SpotBot
Nana had no idea how wonderful of a gift she gave us a couple of years ago when she got Matt the Bissell SpotBot. Boy has it made my life SOOOOO much easier the last 2 weeks. The puppy and daddy had a bit of a rough day today. I came home to 8 little piles of puppy poo, but thanks to our handy dandy SpotBot, all I had to do was pick up the poo, fill up the cleaner, sit on a spot, push start and wait for it to finish and then move it to the next spot. Whew! That could have been much more painful. :) Thank you Nana!
Other than the rough day today, Haledunia has been doing great! I'm wondering if we've been overfeeding him the last couple of days or something. He seems to be better tonight, so who knows... We'll see how tomorrow goes. Hopefully I come home from work to clean carpet! Interesting tidbit that I learned last week... Apparently Dunia really is a TOY poodle. I thought maybe Ashli's family was just mistaken, but no.. he's just a BIG toy poodle. His dad is only 7 lbs and his mom is smaller than that. He and his brother, however, are already over 4.5lbs each and they are not quite 12 weeks old! We'll see if they top off or just end up as bigger dogs than expected. :)
Other random thoughts....
- Ella is finally talking more! Her teacher, Miss Amber, told me today that she's been talking up a storm at school this week. She's usually really quiet, but apparently has opened up a bit this week. :)
- Owen is getting better about school drop off... Thankfully, Ella's teachers have been great and have let him stay in her class when I drop them off. He loves staying there with her and then they take him to his class a little later. It's so much easier on all of us, so thank you Miss Amber and Miss Melinda!! :)
- Owen is staying home with us 2 days a week now. His school now offers part-time enrollment, so we switched him to 3-days a week and he stays home with us on the other 2 days. We're trying to keep some structure and do some "home school" while he's here. We're still figuring it out, but think we're on the right path... if we could just get him to take a nap, we'd be in much better shape, but we're working on it! He loves learning, so it's been fun to work with him on his letters and numbers and coloring and puzzles and everything else. I've missed out on a lot of that part of his life, so it's fun to be more involved now! It's a bit of a challenge getting work done on those days sometimes, but so far, it hasn't been too bad. :)
- Uncle Jordan and Aunt Tammie are coming home for Christmas!! Yay!! :) We can't wait!
- Ella has been limping around all evening since I picked her up from school. It's like she doesnt want to put weight on her left leg... She doesnt really act like it hurts... but isn't using it right. I'm taking her to the doctor first thing in the morning. I'll keep you posted.
- Oh yeah! I think Ella finally has all of her canine teeth! I haven't observed terribly closely, but the last couple of times we've brushed her teeth she's let me take a brief look and I think they are all there! Now for the 2-year molars and we'll be through all that! woo hoo!

Yep - we're still here!
Oh my goodness... April? Really? Seems like a couple of months ago I posted something on here... sorry about that for those who might be interested. We've been doing great! The kids are getting huge. We're already just over a month away from Ella's big 2 birthday! I can't believe she's almost 2. She's been trying to talk more and more. We still don't understand a good part of what she says, but it's getting better. :) Owen's turning into such a big boy. He's getting tall and slim and so grown up!
Random updates that were missed due to mommy's lack of blogging... by no means all updates!
- Ella got another set of tubes in her ears and had her adenoids taken out in August because her first set of tubes came out and the ear infections were back. We're very happy to have that taken care of. So far, she's been doing great!
- Owen has started staying home with us on Mondays and Fridays since his school started allowing part-time enrollment. This is the first week, so we're still learning how to manage it, but I think it'll be great. I'll get to spend more time with him. When Ella turns 2, she can start doing part-time as well. We'll see how Owen does between now and then and then decide if we can do both of them. Naptime is the biggest challenge so far, but we're working on it! :)
- A little while back, Owen gave Ella a lovely haircut. He was so proud of himself, but has been informed that we don't use scissors on anything but paper... Her little short spots are growing back nicely. :)
- We got a minivan!! woo hoo! We got a Kia Sedona and so far I LOVE IT! :)
- We took the kids to the Ft Worth Zoo and Ella loved it! (as we knew she would). Owen wasn't feeling very good that day, so he was a little cranky, but he still liked the animals and especially the choo choo train ride.
- Owen has decided he wants to be a "Choo choo train driver" for halloween. Now I gotta find some overalls and a hat because I know I'll never have time to make it.
- WE'RE GETTING A PUPPY! Haledunia is a toy poodle who is about 10 weeks old. He's coming to live with us on Sunday. We're very excited!
I'm sure could write a novel here, but I better not.

Driving the trucks video
Here are the kids driving the trucks. I was riding with them so sorry for the bumpy video. :) It turned out better than I expected. They obviously thoroughly enjoyed this ride.
Riding the bus video
Here's Owen with Nana and Dadda on the "School Bus" as he called it. It was a little bus that worked kinda like a ferris wheel and went around in vertical circles. I think it was his favorite ride as he kept wanting to go back to it. :)
Now it'll take 2 months!
Man oh man... I keep thinking that one day life will slow down just a little bit, give me a chance to breathe easy and update everyone on what's going on. However, life goes on and so does the severe lack of blogging. :) That said, here's an update!
Matt has the list of things we need to blog about, so I'll miss some things I'm sure, but here's a start and I'll add more... really... I will... soon...
Weekend before last we had our first trip to Six Flags over Texas! It was so much fun. We took both of the kids, Nana, Poppy and Aunt Bee. I was surprised at how much Ella was allowed to ride. She and Owen rode everything they could again and again. :) It was so fun to ride with them and to watch them having fun. We have something like 300 pictures and a couple of cute videos. I'll post the videos after this and here's a link to the pictures. Boy did we have fun! And for the record, yes, my kids like funnel cake. :)
Other fun things...
- Owen has mastered his tricycle. I think I've got a video of that somewhere. I'll see if I can get Matt to put it on YouTube so I can post it here. He loves riding up and down the sidewalk any time we're outside. Ella also loves to ride the smaller plastic tricycle, but is still a bit short to peddle. She clearly knows what to do and gets very frustrated that she can't reach. :) So instead, she has to settle with me pushing her around on it.
- Ella is trying to talk a little bit. She says a few little things like "Bye bye da-da" and "Bay-eee" (for baby) and "uh oh" and she asks "where is _____?" but I dont know how to type the way she says it. :) It's really cute and she holds her hands up and shrugs her shoulders and it's so cute. :) She also asks "What's that?" but again... I'm not sure how to type the way she says it. :)
- We have lots of new babies to play with amongst our family and friends. Baby Caitlyn was born 2 weeks ago and we went to see her yesterday. She is so precious! Baby Seth was born a little over a week ago. We haven't gotten to meet him yet, but we will in a few weeks! We can't wait!! And alas Baby Mary Jane arrived last week!! Her poor mommy was in labor for 26 hours! But she survived to tell the story and we absolutely can't wait to meet the sweet baby girl we've heard so much about.
- On a similar note, we just found out that Owen & Ella are gonna have a cousin! My little brother is going to be having his first baby in 7 or 8 months. Congratulations! We're so excited!!
- Here's a funny story that I have loved to tell lately. :) On Easter Sunday, we let Owen come with us to "big church" to listen to the music and he was being good, so we let him stay in there for most of the sermon. Towards the end he was getting restless and wanted to talk, so I took him to Sunday school for the last few minutes. During the sermon, Pastor Steve read a little children's book that one of his friends had written. It was called "Hey, that's not what the Bible says!" and has funny little stories where the Bible stories are wrong and then it corrects them with that phrase. Well, later that afternoon, we were all at Aunt Josie's house doing our usual Easter festivities (food, egg hunt, food, etc) and out of nowhere, Owen says "Hey! That's not what the Bible says". I about fell out of my chair laughing and being astonished. I had no idea he was paying attention to the sermon! I was shocked! It goes to show you that little minds soak up everything they hear. The lesson I learned there is that he's really not too little for "big church" and we should give him the opportunity to go more often. We never know what he might learn from it!
Okay - I really need to do some work now. I'll cross-check with Matt's list and add anything I forgot. :) Check back and bug me if I'm slow at giving updates! :)

So much to write about!
It'll take me a week to catch up on all the fun and funny things the kids have been doing lately, but I at least want to highlight some of the things from this last week. And I promise that when I take some time off from work next week I'll write more about our ski trip and other stuff!
First of all, Texas weather is insane! We went to church on Sunday with no jackets as it was a beautiful day. This morning (TUESDAY!!), we woke up to a couple inches of snow on our lawn! Owen had a blast this morning playing in it. I told him to look outside so he ran over to the window and said "I want to touch it!" so he ran to get his dad and then stopped dead in his tracks and said "Wait! Where are my snow boots??". It was soooo cute. We found them and got him all bundled up so he could play in the snow. We got pictures and video, so we'll post them. I know I always say that, but sometimes we really do it... I have no control over that. :)
Other funny things:
1- The other day Owen offerred Dadda a Dora cookie and Dadda said he didn't want it because he didn't want any sugar and Owen responded: "Well, how about a diet cookie?" Ha! It was hilarious! He comes up with the funniest things. :)
2- Owen likes to remind everyone lately that "Momma always forgets".... it's true... and he likes to remind me regularly. :) The other day Dadda asked Owen where his napkin was while he was eating his dinner and his response was "Momma forgot to give me one. Momma always forgets."
3- Owen watches out for Ella and lately when she gets in trouble for something he often says "Momma, Ella doesnt understand."
4- One of my favorite phrases of his lately goes something like this: "I want that milk like what Dadda is having". ;) He uses language so well and it's so much fun to have conversations with him.
5- Ella is such an Ape! She mocks everything everyone does now. When we sing songs in the car, she knows motions to most of the ones we sing regularly (regularly meaning EVERY time we're in the car!). If I make a funny face, she'll try to do the same thing.
6- Ella is learning so much and is getting very proficient at sign language! She's very good at telling us "all done" and "more" and "eat". She's also saying a few words like "momma", "dadda", "mo" (more), "uh oh", "wessat?" (where's it at? - along with adorable expressions and a shoulder shrug with her hands up to accompany).
7- I dont remember if I mentioned yet that we discovered a couple months back that Ella is allergic to cow milk. We've had her on goat milk for a while now and she's doing much better with it. She breaks out and gets really fussy when she has cow milk ("regular milk" according to Owen). The doctor is referring her to get allergy testing so hopefully we'll be able to work around any other allergies more easily! She has very sensitive skin, so she's always got eczema and rash on lots of her body, so it'll be nice to find out if there's some other allergy that's causing that. Can't wait!
There's so much more, but I need to do a little work now, but I'll add more later. Check back later!

We're back! :)
No, we have not fallen off the planet or dropped out of society to become hermits in a cave. I've just been totally overwhelmed with work and life that I haven't taken the time to sit down and blog. But the craziness at work is slowing down a bit and I have a moment to relax. :)
There is so much to update I can't possibly write it all here or you'll be here the rest of the week reading it. :) So I'll give a quick summary of everything and add another blog or 2 about some of the bigger events of late.
The rundown of the last couple of months:
- Ella has 2 new teeth - the first one came through at the beginning of December - the other came through about a month ago. I think she's working on a few more, but they aren't bothering here too much right now.
- We had a wonderful visit with Uncle Jordan and Aunt Tammie over Christmas.
- We had a fun Christmas! :)
- Momma has had to travel for work a couple of times lately. Daddy has done a wonderful job with the kids!
- Momma, Dadda and Owen went skiing in Colorado last week! That was momma's second time to ski and Dadda and Owen's first time. We had so much fun. More to come on that in a later blog.
- Momma had a birthday.
- Owen has the flu - thankfully a mild case so far - we'll see how the rest of the week goes. He's been acting like he feels okay, just running a fever and a little groggy.
There's a ton more, but those are the highlights I think. More to come....
