You drive me crazy

This story is too funny not to share. The other day, I was taking the kids to school when out of nowhere Owen started telling me something. It went a little something like this...

Owen: "I was just thinking about something Daddy does that just drives me crazy."
Me: "what's what honey?"
Owen: "Like when it's late at night and I'm going to bed and I tell him something about God or something and he just talks too much! He just talks and talks and it's just too much. He just drives me crazy when he talks so much."
Me: "You think Daddy talks too much sometimes?"
Owen: "Yes he does."

So later, I was telling Daddy the story and laughing heartily and Owen, of course, piped in to correct me when i mis-quoted him. (It had to be exactly the right words or I got scolded). So Matt had a few questions for Owen about that...

Matt: "You think I talk too much?"
Owen:"Yes, at night when I'm trying to go to sleep and you just talk too much so you drive me crazy. You shouldn't talk about important things, just easy things like puzzles, the Dora puzzle, and toys. You should talk about toys. It just wastes my time when I'm trying to go to sleep."
Matt: "I just like it when you ask me about important things so I like to let you ask me questions so I can teach about things."
Owen: "YOU ARE JUST DRIVING ME CRAZY RIGHT NOW!"

HAHAHA. I've never heard him use that phrase before, but he clearly figured it out and had a valid use for it here. :) I laughed so hard trying to tell Matt that it was making Owen mad because he didnt think it was funny. :) I love my kids!

Stripey Doo-Dash

Soccer Practice Pictures

Soccer game & a new kitty!

First, an update on the soccer game as promised! We had a full crowd - I think Owen had twice the fan club as the rest of the team combined... surprise surprise. :) Overall, the Longhorns (Owen's team) did great for their first game ever! The other team has played a season or two before, so they were really good, but our boys hung in there and scored several goals! They don't keep score at this age, so I couldnt say how many, but I do know that Owen scored 2! It took him a little while to really get engaged in the game, but once he did, he did great! Our next game is Thursday night. It'll be fun! I think the next team isn't quite as good as this last one, so it'll be a little bit different... :)

On a completely unrelated note, we got our first kitty cat last night! We're not sure if it's a boy or a girl yet, but it's name is Stripey. He/She has their first vet appointment tomorrow afternoon, so I'll be able to say for sure. Right now it's terrified of us. It's been living up at Papa's farm with it's brothers/sisters and mommy cat for the last couple of months. Since Papa died, we decided to take in a couple of them to give them a home. There are 4 more still up at the farm, but we plan to get one more if we can catch one! Those little rascals are quick! We spent an hour last night chasing them down and finally rounded up Stripey. Hopefully the next attempt won't be quite so difficult... and hopefully Stripey will warm up to us quickly so we can play with him and love on him like we want to! We'll post some pictures. :)

The First Game

This is such an exciting day for the Morris family! Owen has his first soccer game in a couple of hours. It should be entertaining. :) Not only will the game be hilarious - the kids haven't practiced in a week and a half and have never played a game - but Owen is gonna have a whole fan club on the sidelines! We've got most of the lineup coming - Grami, Kenbob, Nana, Aunt Bee, Uncle Bumps and me, Matt & Ella. I'm not sure about anyone else, but I wouldnt be surprised if Papi or Uncle Matt showed up too. :) We'll need our own cheering section! Wish him luck! I'll report back on how it went.

Update on the kiddoes

Since it's been another couple of months since I've updated on the kids, thought I owe one here! So here we go. :)

Owen:
His favorite thing now is words. He likes to write them, spell them, write them, read them, and write them. :) He carries around paper and a pen or pencil everywhere he goes. He's got numerous little notebooks, a little packet with notecards and sticky pads. He's got about 10 or so words that he writes over and over again, but he can spell and write almost anything with a little bit of help on the weird ones. His favorites are: Owen, Ella, Bee, Nana, Fun, Dog, Cat, Mommy, and Daddy. He's a little smarty pants with lots and lots and lots of energy and he's all kinds of fun these days. He's also started playing soccer. He was supposed to have his first game last Saturday, but it got rained out. Hopefully we'll get to have the game this Saturday! He's had a few practices and seems to really enjoy it. I'll post some pictures. :)

Ella:
She's such a big girl! I just can't believe how grown up she is. She is pretty much totally potty trained now. woo hoo!!! She's had a lot of accidents the last week, but that seems to be winiding down. She's catching up with her brother quickly in size! She eats like a little piggy most of the time, so it's not surprising. The other night for dinner, she ate 3 bowls of meatloaf. :) She's also ridiculously active, so she doesnt show it. :) She really needs to be in gymnastics or dance. The girl likes to jump off of things (couch, chairs, etc), dance, run, "exercise", somersault, etc. Pretty much if it's fun, preferably dangerous and requires mommy and daddy's full attention, then she loves it! :) One of her favorite things to do with her brother is jump off the couch onto the bean bags. They can do that for hours without ever getting tired or bored. She's also talking up a storm. Owen still takes the gold medal on that topic, but she's learned to get her words in too. She took forever to really communicate well, but now she can tell you exactly what she means, exactly how she means it. :) Most sentences start with "I need..." and end with "...right now!" For example, "I need to color RIGHT NOW!" She's a little princess and knows it. It'll be fun seeing how she responds to being a big sister!

Well that's all I have time for right now, but I'll try to do better about regular updates!

The Morris Five???

That's right!! We just found out a couple of weeks ago that we've got another blessing on the way. We're so excited. Owen and Ella are so excited to have a baby brother or sister. The new little one should be here in April, so please pray for a healthy pregnancy and a healthy baby in just a few months!

Halelulia!!!

We are getting so close to being diaper free!! Ella has been such a big girl this week! Yesterday, she went ALL day (yes 8:30am-bedtime) in the same pair of panties! No accidents! Today was a little rougher with 2 accidents, but still! We have not been pushing this at all. We're just letting her kinda do it at her pace and she's doing so great!

Both of my babies are so big now. Owen is 4 now and that means not only can he read most words, he can add, subtract, multiply! He's amazing. Best part of all is that he thinks it's fun! :) It's been so much fun watching him learn and grow. Lately his thing is Legos. Last night he got to go buy his "crane legos" that he's been begging for since his birthday. It's a 898-piece set! He'll have it done by the end of the week. :) He got 4-5 different sets for his birthday and did them all lickity-split.

Ella grows up every day. Each day she wakes up and I think, "that's weird... she looks so big and grown up today!" :) Kids are amazing!

Wow.... has it really been 3 months??

We're still here! The kids are getting huge and are a couple of little smarty pants. :) I'll talk more about that in a minute. First, I have to share some sad news. Our precious puppy Haledunia passed away 2 weeks ago after a freak accident where his neck was injured. I'll be posting a Tribute to Haledunia in a little bit, but here's a link to our photo tribute. :) He was the sweetest, most wonderful puppy would ever could have asked for and we miss him dearly.

On a more uplifting note, we have 2 of the cutest, funniest and most wonderful kids in the world. Ella has sprouted up like a weed and is quickly catching up with her big brother. Owen gets smarter by the day and is sometimes too smart for his own good. :) I'll try to remember some highlights from the last couple of months.

* Owen learned how to do instant messaging last week. It's one of his new favorite things to do. It's a fun way for him to learn how to spell, so it's been entertaining for all of us. He's got quite a spelling vocabulary now. His favorite words are "OPEN" (which he learned from sign at the sushi place one night a couple of weeks ago), "DOG", "OWEN", "ELLA", "CLOSE", and others that aren't coming to mind. If you ever want to chat with him, just let us know and we'll hook you up. :) He's so cute!

* Ella is a little mommy. One of her favorite things in the world is her babies. She cradles them, sings to them, reads books to them, lays them down and covers them up, hugs, kisses, the works! It's the cutest thing ever. She'll be such a great mommy one day. :)

* Both kids still LOVE playing outside! They've figured out how to swing themselves on their tummies, so they go out and do that when it's nice out. They also love playing in the sand. Ella will go out and play in the sandbox for hours if I let her. Owen mostly likes to pour the sand... sometimes on Ella... but always pouring. He likes to climb up on top of the playset and pour the sand through the cracks and stuff like that.

* Owen is a boy boy boy. I now have to make sure I clean out his pockets every day when he gets home from school or if he's been outside at all. I find everything from acorns (which he calls "dirt apples" because "me and talia finded them in the dirt!"), rocks (he's found some pretty cool rocks!), little pieces of chalk that he finds on the playground, leaves, etc. He and his friend Talia at school apparently have a good time hunting for things. :)

* Ella has recently started really enjoying all of her dress-up stuff that she got for her birthday. She'll just disappear for a while and then walk into the living room with a t-shirt, a diaper and high heels. It's hilarious. She's mostly into the shoes and hats, but occassionally puts on the dresses (usually backwards or sideways :)).

* I got a Wii for my birthday last month and Owen loves it. His favorite game is bowling, though he tells everyone he's really good at tennis too cuz he can just "lift it up and hit it down real fast!" :) He also enjoys the Wii Fit ski jumping game because when you crashland or have a bad take-off you turn into a snowball and roll down the hill. He cracks up laughing when that happens. :) Matt got some good pictures of him ski jumping the other day. I'll have to dig them up and post them. Ella hasn't quite figured out how to work the games yet, but she likes to hold the remote and pretend. :)

* Ella is talking talking talking up a storm. She is pretty quiet around lots of people, but at home, she is quite the talker. She mostly talks to bubby (Owen), but also talks to her babies and mommy and daddy. She can say anything she wants to at this point, though it still requires a little translation for some things for people who aren't around her much. :)

* Last night Owen told me he wanted to do a "breathing ma-treatment cuz I still have a cough". I said "that's fine, tell daddy to get it set up for you". He replied quite agitated with "but daddy told me to ask mommy. So how am I gonna do it if mommy said to ask daddy and daddy told me to talk to mommy!" I about fell over laughing so hard. The little stinker is too sharp. :) We got it all sorted out and he had his breathing treatment. :) His cough seems to be dying down... finally... hopefully...

* One more thing! Both of my kids love talking on the phone. Well...Owen loves talking... Ella loves listening. She won't say a word, but always wants to call people. She'll bring me the phone and say "onna call Nana", so we'll call Nana and Ella will just sit there grinning. :) Owen on the other hand won't stop talking on the phone. :) His favorites to call are Nana, Aunt Bee and Grami. The other day he called Nana, talked to her for a minute and then hung up. Then he wanted to talk to Papi so I told him to call Nana's house again but ask for Papi (he's got the speed dials figured out on my phone). So he did but when Nana answered he goes "UH! But mommy! I can't talk to Papi cuz Nana is still on the phone!" He was about to hang up in irritation, but Nana got his attention and told him she'd go give the phone to Papi. Haha. The stuff he comes up with is priceless. :)

That's enough for now... back to work. Hope you enjoyed it! :)
